Nasal Drug Delivery System - An Overview

چکیده

INTRODUCTION Certain drugs are delivered to the nasal cavity because their intended site of action. These are administrated as nasal drops or sprays for a local effect. Such drugs in clinical use include decongestants, antibiotics and mucolytics. The nasal cavity may also be exploited as a route of entry into the systematic circulation, either because the absorption profile of the drug is appropriate to its clinical application or destroyed in the gastrointestinal fluids or metabolized in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract or undergo extensive biotransformation by the liver during their first passage around the circulation.
